In 2005 James retired from the United Kingdom moving to South Africa where he has now settled. He has since established himself as South Africa’s only Royal Bagpiper offering his services to the general public as a full time professional piper. He pipes for the Cape Town, South African Field Artillery Company Drums and Pipes as a Pipe Sergeant and is the Honorary Piper to the Chavonnes Cannon Battery Museum at the Waterfront in Cape Town. James is without doubt, a truly ‘International Piper’.

This album is different!
Bagpipe tunes and words mixed in with Zulu, Afrikaans and Xhosa but to name a few.
Thanks to all that took part in the making of it as well. I enjoyed every minute of it, that’s for sure.
The first tune and song Forever South Africa with Danie Niehaus makes the hair on your arms stand up. What a great way to start an album.
Then Bafana Bafana winning the World Cup on the final track is enough to make you stand naked on top of table mountain and shout South Africa as loud as you possibly can.
Come on everyone get behind the National Team and help them to win in 2010.

James,
We played your CD after supper.
I was given a “PIPE” record during my youth by my Scottish uncle Gordon Smith and enjoyed it.
Your CD, James, is so much more!!!!
Apart from your music which is very good,
the whole of the CD creeps right into my S. African heart.
I am sure this will be true for all South Africans.
THANKS!!!!!
