This gift carries a commitment to our Lord and Saviour through Matrimony.

After being inspired by two Christian men who walked from Kakamas to the Mighty Men Conference in Paarl earlier this year 2011, with two camels in tow and in their attempt to keep the flame of Christ alive and in support of Mighty Men Paarl, I decided to do something similar and the same and to do ‘my bit’ so to speak.

After several weeks preparing I walked and Piped from Cape Town to The Hidden Valley in Mooi River to the Mighty Men Conference there over a fifty six (56) day period covering up to 1800 kms.

I set off from Cape Gate onto the N1 Motorway Northbound on Saturday August 20th 2011 leaving my wife and friends behind me for the Mooi River event that was held on the 21st of October 2011; I was also promoting all Mighty Men Conferences for the future as well, so passionate am I that Mighty Men helps men become better men, husbands, fathers, brothers and sons.

I promoted through various media (newspapers and radio) all up and coming events such as MMC Kalahari, MMC Cape, MMC Karoo and even MMC abroad.

My journey was by faith alone and with Bible and Pipes in one hand and a Cross over my shoulder and in the other hand and all in a Mighty Men Tartan kilt!

Here are a few of literally hundreds of photos and videos taken from that journey of me piping and marching before the armies of Christ; keeping all Mighty Men focused and steadfast as they too march in his defence and honour; are you a Mighty Man? If not then sign up and join the Clan!

The Bergrivier Project is celebrating its 21 years of fundraising this year.

They decided that this year they will focus on CHOC, Childhood Cancer Foundation SA. Cancer has a profound effect on everyone it touches. With empathetic support and the right information, it is possible to not only survive its ravages but end up stronger, wiser and more compassionate.

It is with this focus on compassion, that CHOC was founded. As a countrywide organization, they provide holistic support for children suffering from cancer and life-threatening blood disorders as well as their families.

Today people like Attie Laubscher (Project organizer) Rooies, Wicus van der Merwe, Fanie Veldskoen, Dillon Lerm (singers), Die Burger, Radio Tygerberg, Sponsors and teams effortlessly donate their private time and set off from Paarl on a 5 day journey to help raise funds.

There were very sad moments when those who lost their battle against cancer were remembered as well. A special wreath was laid for singer/songwriter Lukas Maree.

It was such an honour to have played the bagpipes as they launched the boats and laid the wreath as I too had lost my mother to cancer last year.

Thank you guys for all you are doing.

Piperjames met with Springbok National Rugby Coach Mr. Pieter De Villiers last week in Cape Town.

Pieter is a Mighty man of God and follows ‘Oom’ Angus Buchan as does Piperjames with the Mighty Men movement of South Africa and around the world.

A beautiful Mighty Men Tartan Scarf, flat cap and tie was presented to Pieter as a birthday gift from Piperjames and to say thanks to him for being a fellow brother in Christ.

Piperjames asked and also got from Mr. De Villiers blessing to present the National Team with a ten to fifteen (10 -15) metre long Prayer Shawl so that the lads can hold on to it when in prayer before a match during the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand where the Boks are defending their title as World Champions.

Anyone reading this can have their names embroidered on the Prayer Shawl for R200 and the funds raised will help to fund injured rugby players in South Africa helping them to go to a Mighty Men Conference in their areas. For further details make contact with Piperjames on 082 575 8862 or send an email to: piperjames@live.co.za

Come on the Boks you can do! The Amabokkapiper is right there making enough noise to get the fans right behind you all.

16 October 2010- Grand finale

When things come to an end it’s always sad, especially after the magic experienced on the road for a whole week. But the final day of this fabulous week of creating awareness and touching so many people’s lives, the last day was magic in itself, even if it was an emotional goodbye for everyone.

The girls departed early from Montagu for a breakfast stop at Rooiberg Farm where the flamboyant Piperjames escorted them to another suprise.

The popular Afrikaans singer, Danie Niehaus, who was elevated up in the sky with a forklift, sang his famous song, “Jy is vrou” (translated, You are a woman) who had all the girls (even those who don’t understand Afrikaans!) in tears. When hoards of pink helium filled balloons were launched up in the sky, the emotions ran even higher.

No words can describe what a week like this evoke in one’s heart. The ladies and crew alike where touched by all the beauty and magic on the 2233km they covered in 8 short days. And hopefully the over 10 000 people they shared their stories with will feel exactly the same way.

Thanks to everyone who made this experience a life changing one.

There is a renewed flame of Christianity happening in South Africa!!

Men are again standing up for their faith and their families, saying…… No more!!

That is what Mighty Men Conferences do, men coming together to grow in their faith and “Dying to Serve”  and to become Mighty Men for Christ.

These MMC gatherings serves to uplift, encourage and restore men from all walks of life.

Testimonies keep pouring in from our own country as well as abroad of new found and restored relationships between husbands and wives, fathers and sons, friend to friend and employer and employees.

Evangelist Angus Buchan said that men should take this flame to all corners of the nations.

The first MMC for this year was held during last weekend 18-20th March at Elohim`s Farm in Paarl.

“The atmosphere was electrifying. Who wants to attend a rock concert if you can go to a MMC!!!” Piperjames was quoted.

The brand new Mighty Men Tartan, the only Christian tartan in the world, was also revealed this week.

Angus Buchan, a true Scotsman, was presented with his own kilt in the Mighty Men Tartan and he as well as Piperjames was seen on stage at the MMC Paarl wearing it. Thousands of Christians are standing up for their faith by wearing and showing off this tartan.

Tartans 4 Africa, the company which distributes and markets the Tartan said that the time is NOW to be bold and show your faith.

We need to, more than ever, wear our Armour of God to protect us. They are quoted saying” If you are a believer in Christ, I DARE YOU………….WEAR IT!!!!!”

The 2011 Rugby World Cup will be the seventh Rugby World Cup, a quadrennial international rugby union competition inaugurated in 1987 and the Springboks are the current holders of the Rugby World Cup and ranked number three on the IRB World Rankings.

This tournament is one of the largest international sporting events in the world.

Piperjames is most probably the most famous and biggest Springbok supporter!  He received his Gold Supporters membership and certificate on Friday.

His quest is to unite the country even more through rugby and his music and show the world what a great country South Africa is and what brilliant supporters she has.

In the words of Mr. Angus Thomson, Managing Director of Promo-Gear “Piperjames as an avid Springbok supporter, and a decent and dutiful citizen certainly gets me excited.  South Africans pitching in and helping to change the face of this country in a positive way, gives hope that we  as a nation are on our way to greater things. This is exactly the spirit that each citizen in this great country of ours should wake up to each day.

We are happy to support him by donating one of our  Bokkie’s for his project, and as South African with ties to Scotland, hope to see and hear his pipes played as far and wide as possible”

In the ‘Springboks’ we have a national treasure that can unite and bring joy to this nation, and Piperjames shows the same spirit. Long may he continue the great work and I look forward to picture updates & details of his charitable endeavours.”

Piperjames asks his fellow South Africans to join him and unite behind the National team spurring them on to win and retain the World Cup.

He says  “I carry a Bok blanket over my shoulder coz I don`t know where I will end up playing, New Zealand here I come, lol.

Please watch out for the Piperjames Landrover as its skin will soon turn green!!!!!

Their Mission:

“Our philosophy is simple. We believe every child should be spoilt and loved, not only at Christmas but all year round. A snowflake can cause an avalanche – together we CAN make a real difference!

Founded in 2006, Operation Shoebox collects shoeboxes filled with Christmas goodies for children from disadvantaged and underprivileged communities across Cape Town, South Africa.

Since their inception Operation Shoebox have raised and donated over  R600 000 worth of goods to 3 800 children across 22 charities in Cape Town. They`ve  had a fantastic response this year BUT with YOUR help and drive, hopes to make the biggest difference EVER  in the 2011.

Piperjames is calling all his family, friends and fans to please join him in support of this amazing group of people.

Become  a sponsor.

Its easier than you think!!!!!

Each year they approach charities in Cape Town and ask them to submit lists of the children in their care. Operation Shoebox  then find sponsors to ‘adopt’ each child and make up a shoebox filled with Christmas goodies for that particular child. Sponsors are supplied with the child’s name and surname, age, gender, clothing and shoe size, and where possible a little snippet of information on their hobbies and interests. This enables the sponsor to personalise the gift for that particular child.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Piperjames is honoured to have piped at a reunion and pay tribute to fallen Naval Officers.

The reunion at the Royal Cape Yacht Club was a huge success and the guys were able to renew friendships of 40 years.

Attendees were:
Gordon Christine and Marc Blackbeard

Grim  Grimbeek
John Gower
Brendan and Anita Lalor
Des and Marietjie Oswald
Jan and Emmarine Rabe
Myra Rademeyer
Chris and Anne Rawthorne

Gordon Blackbeard is thanked for his kind and very generous sponsorship of the event, and for selecting the Royal Cape Yacht Club as the venue.  The setting, menu and service was exceptional.

We look forward to another reunion in 2015 and that will be upon us before we know it.

From Rugged to Royal – South Africa’s First Golf Club

The history of Royal Cape had its beginning on the 14th November 1885 when a meeting, chaired by Lt Gen. Sir Henry Torrens, was held at the Castle “for the purpose of introducing the game of golf and starting a club for the same”.

Thus the Cape Golf Club, the first in South Africa, was born.

It was in this same year that the title “Royal” was conferred on the Cape Golf Club by H M King George V in commemoration of the visit of H R H The Duke of Connaught, representing the King at the opening of the first Union.

This year the Royal Cape Golf Club celebrates its 125 th anniversary.

The South African Open has been hosted no less than ten times, the first in 1910 and the most recent in 1996 when

Ernie Els birdied the last three holes to win by one shot.

Gary Player won in 1965 when he became the first player to break 70 in all four rounds of South Africa parliament.

In the years 1999 to 2002 the Club hosted the Vodacom Players’ Championship,

the winners including Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman and Mark McNulty.

The Royal Cape Golf Club is a true championship course which has been redesigned by Danie Obermeyer and David Frost

Piperjames is honoured to have played the pipes at this momentous occasion!!!!
